Jim Brown
The story of Ernie Davis begins with the one and only Jim Brown. Jim was born Febuary 17, 1936 and attended Syracuse University from 1954 -1956. He was never able to win the Heisman Trophy during his years at Syracuse, which told many that a black athlete may never be able to achieve this goal. However, they were soon proven wrong when the following year Ernie Davis brought home the Heisman. Jim Brown went on to play 9 years in the NFL from 1957-1965 for the Clevland Browns. Davis looked up to Brown and contiued his legacy by wearing his #44 throughout his career at Syracuse. Today Jim Brown is retired holding many records and recognitions from his playing days. All of his hard work and dedication led him to a spot in the NFL Hall Of Fame where he, like Davis, will never be forgotten. Some interesting facts about Jim include:
